Massage Therapy - Admission Requirements

Applicants must provide documentations of successful completion of the followings that are applied to them:

For Applicants, 18 of age but below 19 of age

Must have Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or High School Diploma from other Canadian Provinces, Territories and United States of America (USA)

 

For Applicants, 19 of age and over

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalents

 

OSSD equivalents for admission purposes can be:

  • High School Diploma from another Canadian Provinces, Territories and USA
  • An official transcript, diploma or certificate from other country has been formally assessed at OSSD level by recognized education/credential evaluation centre
  • Postsecondary Diploma or degree from Colleges or Universities in Canada or USA
  • Non-Canadian or Non-USA postsecondary diploma and degree has been formally evaluated and certified by recognized education/credential evaluation centre
  • Any educational credential or certification from Canadian or USA formal learning institutions that is accepted by an Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology for entry to a postsecondary program.

 

For Mature Students, Applicants must be 19 of age and over

If applicant is 19 of age or over does not have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalents, and English is not the applicant's 1st language, English Proficiency will need to be assessed. Applicant must demonstrate during the interview process that they have the language and cognitive abilities necessary to successfully complete the program or satisfy one of the following English Proficiency and Achievement Survey or Evaluation .

  1. Wonderlic Cognitive Test - Admission Test

    with minimum scores on SLE of 15 or WBST-v of 365 and Applicant must pass the interview process with the College Admission Director. or (2)

  2. Successful Completion of Ontario Adult Learning / Education or equivalents from other Canadian Provinces, Territories or USA

    English Proficiency and Achievement Survey or Evaluation Methods (3 to 9)

  3. CELT - Comprehensive English Language Tests with minimum score of:

    Listening 70%

    Structure 70%

    Vocabulary 70%

  4. Passing a College or University Level English Course

  5. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL IBT)

    with a minimum score of 20 in each of the four components (listening, speaking, writing, and reading)

  6. International English Language Testing (IELTS)

    with a minimum overall band score of 6.5 with no other component score less than 6.0

  7. Michener English Language Assessment (MELA)

    with a minimum overall band score of 7.5 with no other component score less than 7.0

  8. Canadian Standardized English Proficiency Test (CanTest)

    with a minimum overall band score of 4 with no other component score less than 3.5

  9. Completion of College’s English as Second language courses

    with minimum 100 training hours designed for applicants to the College's Esthetics program if Applicant did not achieve any of the above benchmark but achieved over 85% of the required benchmarks.

 

For all Applicants, do not have minimum one Grade 11 or Grade 12 high school's Human Science course or equivalents, must:

Completion of an Introductory to Health Science Workshop and English for Health Science and Medical Terminology Courses that are designed for applicants to the our Massage Therapy program or equivalent;

 

For all Applicants, must submit documentations or formal written notices or references they have undertaken the following procedures:

  • Completion of a confidential Entry Immunization Form which includes Proof of immunization status for Hepatitis B and physician's interpretation of results. Results of mandatory TB testing and physician's interpretation of results; and
  • Criminal Background Check
